Menorca is an island where you can visit spectacular places full of charm: beaches, lighthouses, hidden spots... and its towns are some of the places where you can find the essence of its people and culture.
For us, of course, Es Migjorn Gran stands out, the town that saw the birth of our company, our factory, and our avarcas back in 1998, and where we continue to manufacture our products. That’s why today’s post is dedicated to our people.
The first thing you should do when you arrive in Migjorn is to walk around the town. Its narrow pedestrian streets in the downtown area will make you fall in love. In the summer, they are decorated with flags and filled with flowers that the neighbors bring to the doorways. A true wonder!
In the tour, you will find the Church of Sant Cristòfol; saint of the town, dating from 1972, with its peculiar date that appears represented in most of the visitors' photos.
On the outskirts of the village, going down to the beaches, you can find the Binigaus Ravine, which ends at the beach of the same name, where you can visit several caves, including the Cova des Coloms, also called "the Cathedral" for its large dimensions: 24 meters high, 110 meters long and 15 meters wide. ¡ It is spectacular! Take advantage to enjoy this beautiful excursion on the less hot days.
Es Migjorn Gran also offers its beaches, located at just 5 km from the village. Of all of them, our favorite is Binigaus, at the end of the ravine, a long and wonderful virgin beach at the south of the island that will not leave you indifferent. Next to it, we find the beach of San Adeodato and just after, Santo Tomás, the most touristic of all. At the end of Santo Tomás, walking for about 20 minutes, you will find the beach of Atalis, a small virgin paradise of turquoise and calm waters.
But in any case, whether you visit first the downtown of the village or you prefer to enjoy the beach and climb at sunset, you can not miss visiting the factory of your favorite Menorcan avarcas, the Avarcas Mibo!
